Bear is here now, but Finch isn't and John wishes that wasn't the case. Although he was the one to find Bear, the one who rescued him from those gangsters, the one who recognized him for the well trained dog that he is, he's still ultimately Finch's companion before he's John's. His friend should still be here, his friend should be the one Bear lives with.
