It's a knife, which is slightly better than a gun, but John still kicks it toward the door, away from the other members of this would-be robbery team. Then he detaches the cuffs from his belt and tosses them to Karen.

Given the state she's in, he has no doubt she'll be able to keep her control over the guy in her grip right now and still cuff him without much trouble. That puts two men out of commission and leaves them three, which are the sort of odds John would be fine with on a regular day. Today isn't regular, though, today his girlfriend is a superhero.

Today he's not the slightest bit worried.

In the distance he can hear sirens and the three men left exchange worried glances, but John steps in front of the door when one of them moves. He's not in the mood to let any of them go.

"She's fast," he warns. "She'll have your friend cuffed and all three of you on the ground before you'll even realize what's happening."
