"I always worry about your wrath," John answers with a smile and while that isn't necessarily true -- mostly because knows not to cross her -- he does think it counts as a sign of his opinion of Dutch. He knows she wouldn't do anything unnecessarily cruel, but he also knows not to cross her.

Not that it's the sort of thing she has to worry about. John has longed ago learned his lesson about loyalty.

"And I think we're on," he says as he gets up from their table, then goes around to Dutch's chair, helping her out of it. None of this is because he thinks she needs it, but at the moment it helps to keep up the appearances of a real date. Across the restaurant, the men he's been watching are already putting on their coats.
