"I know," Karen says quietly, a slight smile curving her lips when he kisses her forehead. "I trust you." She has practically since she met him, when she was willing to lie to hospital staff despite any misgivings she had about the NYPD. He's never once made her feel that she was wrong to do so. There may be things they don't talk about, or that took a long time to ever come up, but that's as true for her as it is for him, and part of why she feels so secure with him. She doesn't need to know everything to know him.

"You know, I've never actually lived anywhere with a safe before. I think maybe that's some sort of step up, or something."
