Daniel would have shrugged, if he hadn't been trying to be casual. Instead he made sort of a shrugging expression. John was maybe trying to warn him that if Daniel stayed aware of this, he'd be risking something, but Daniel didn't have much to risk at this point. And he wasn't gonna just walk away from something one of his few friends thought was important.
