"We do," Karen agrees, her own smile soft, but similarly real. She's never fit as well with anyone as she does with him, someone who knows the worst things about her and doesn't think less of her, who has a darkness of his own but not one that's ever scared her. It only makes her feel safe. Sometimes things happen, sometimes things need to be done, and they both understand that. It's not like this is how they usually deal with problems, anyway. Tonight, there were just a lot of extenuating circumstances.
