This, he thinks, has to be a decent bachelorette party.

Maybe not for the average bride, maybe other people out there want strippers and sashes that read BRIDE-TO-BE and phallic decorations, but Peggy had made it very clear to John that she wanted none of that.

So he'd rented out a bar. An entire bar. The guest list isn't particularly extensive, they don't need the entire bar, but he'd seen no reason not to do it anyway. It means they have the entire place to themselves, they can control the music, and the bartender has only them to serve. And John has paid a flat fee for the bartender and the serving staff, plus given them a significant tip, so they're attending the party perfectly.

The bar is nice, with comfortable chairs and several pool tables, as well as a well stocked jukebox that he thinks has just about anything someone might think to play. Maybe not Dutch, she probably knows songs none of them have ever heard before, but there's probably plenty on the jukebox she'll still enjoy.

There are appetizers, lots of them, covering just about any option a person could want. The same goes for alcohol.

All in all, for someone not all that inclined toward attending parties, he thinks he's done a fairly good job capturing something Peggy will enjoy. And that's the point of tonight, giving her a party to celebrate her future and everything that's to come with people she enjoys spending time with.

"For a second, I thought you meant get married and I was going to laugh in your face," Dutch tells her, shaking her head. Truthfully, she has been married but that part of her life is locked away. That part of her life is a distant, painful memory.

"But, I've attended parties like this before, yes," she answers. "I've known plenty of people who've gotten married."

"During the war, the parties were rather rushed," Peggy admits. "No one ever knew how much time we had, so you'd always go and you'd never know when you might have to ship out or when the next attack would come. This is much better than those," she can strongly assure.

"How does mine compare?" she asks, even though she's probably only setting herself up for disappointment, given her request for things to be rather sedate.

"Pretty well but most of the wedding parties I went to back home were either while I was undercover on a job or avery rushed thing for one reason or another. This isn't either of those so I'm enjoying being able to enjoy myself while I don't work."

So, Dutch approves of this party well heartily.

"The important question is are you enjoying yourself?"

"Well, if it makes you feel any more comfortable, you can pretend to be undercover here," Peggy offers, as if she's feeling truly magnanimous. She gives Dutch a smile, though, because she wants her to feel comfortable. "I am," she promises. "Even knowing the big day is soon."

"You've picked a dress, yes?" Peggy hadn't wanted to stipulate, so she'd left it to Dutch and John both to pick something that they actually enjoyed wearing.

"Of course I have," Dutch reassures her with an easy grin. "It was one of the first things I did. I do love shopping and getting to dress up in a fancy dress is one of my favorite things so rest assured, I will be wearing a beautiful dress but not one that will upstage the bride."

She winks and grins widely.

Peggy laughs at the notion of caring so much about being upstaged, seeing as she honestly hasn't a care about that. "I'm not wearing a traditional wedding dress and I wouldn't have minded if people's eyes strayed to you. I already know Daniel likes the dress."

Leaning in, a touch confidentially, she thinks she has better things to share. "It's the lingerie that's meant to be a surprise."

"For a second, I thought you were going to say that you were going to wear lingerie as a wedding dress and I was going to both stare at you and then congratulate you for being so bold," Dutch says with a laugh.

"This way is probably better since I don't know Daniel well but I can't see him being too fond of his future bride in lingerie at their wedding," she jokes.

Peggy lets out a sharp laugh at the image, thinking that she might give some people in the crowd a heart attack, if she were to do that. At the very least, she thinks she'd send Tony to therapy. "No, I think that for everyone's best interests, I'll save that for the wedding night."

"Though, gone are the times when we waited," she notes. "I'm afraid that was one of the things we ignored from our own time. Daniel does seem rather set on us not living together until the wedding, though, no matter how I've tried to talk him out of it."

"That's sweet," Dutch says, smiling in Daniel's direction. "Wholly unheard of where I'm from but sweet. It's nice that he's managed to keep some of those things that are from his past while here."

Daniel was one of the good ones and good for Peggy for snagging him up. "Are you going to pick one of your apartments or will you be moving to something bigger?"

"We're from the forties, I do suppose that we're a little backwards, as far as some might be concerned," Peggy can't help her wry comment, though she's been in Darrow long enough that some of those old values have begun to erode. She suspects with time, they will for Daniel, too.

"We were discussing looking for something new. Ground floor, so he doesn't have as much trouble with the leg," she says. "It also requires some changes for other rooms, just in case things get worse."

"Well, I've no good advice there," Dutch admits with a shake of her head. "I'm used to living on a ship so the apartment I was given is almost too much space. I'm not going to complain though. More room for pretty things."

And she adores herself from pretty things.

"Just have to let me know where you end up so I can visit. Bring you a weapon as a house warming gift."

"Oh, that would be an absolute dream if you would," Peggy confesses, because as much as she might be getting married, she's in no way settling down. "I don't suppose you could arrange for matching his and hers?" she teases, given that Daniel is quite adept with a gun as well, from her experience.

"That probably depends on the type of weapon," Dutch answers, snickering. "I'll look into it though. I'm sure there's something out there in his and hers varieties. Probably not the most conventional wedding slash housewarming gift but who cares."

She likes unconventional.

"Guns are always classic, but we could do with a lovely set of knives," she muses thoughtfully, giving a rather amused smile as she thinks about dual his and hers knives. "You don't need to get me anything, incidentally. Your presence both here and at the wedding is more than enough," she assures.
